dotMailer Accountable Email Marketing

Technical Backbone

dotMailer has been built as a professional solution for organisations for which e-marketing is a critical part of their business. Our technical backbone reflects this, and we are pleased to supply clients with any information they need to give them confidence in the reliability and security of our facilities.

We work with many clients in the banking sector and are well used to providing evidence of robust systems within tender documents for government and the public sector; our staff have also been key to setting up some secure server facilities within the Bank of England.

Network infrastructure is safely split across three separate geographical locations: the main privately-owned data centre is supported by carrier-neutral facilities provided by Telecity Redbus (Docklands) and IXEurope (City of London). This gives us direct access to the backbone of the Internet with the benefit of redundancy between sites. The transit connections are provided by AboveNet and Level 3, at speeds of up to 1Gbps.

The power supply at each data centre is backed up by dedicated generators, which are switched in automatically in the event of a cut in the public mains supply. Temperature is monitored and maintained at a constant 23 degrees Celsius (+/- 2 degrees), with air humidity kept at 45% (+/- 10%).

We favour industry-leading Cisco and HP hardware rather than generic equivalents, and have a programme of constant capacity-planning to ensure that our server network is more than equal to our projected requirements.

On the human level, all data centres maintain strict access control with visitors requiring an escort at all times. Automatic security systems operate 24/7 to complement this.

If you have any questions about the above, want more technical information (or an explanation in more simple terms!) then we'd be very pleased to help out. Our security and reliability is our reputation, and we want you to be comfortable with this.
