Not even a trespasser on the train tracks could stop dotMailer's Inside Knowledge seminar at the IAB last Friday - an event which saw over 60 email marketeers join myself, Simon Bird, Skip Fidura and Anita White for an afternoon of email and digital thought leadership.

Mainly concentrating on email, attendees went on a whirlwind afternoon through the dotMailer platform, real life examples from retailers studied within our Hitting the Mark email benchmarking report, onto optimising your website and ending with a thought provoking half hour from our newest Strategy Director Skip Fidura on Email in a Web 2.0 World.

Throughout his presentation, Skip hammered home the fact that email is the gateway to customer's digital lives. Consumers want to be listened to and offered flexibility and choice in the way they receive communications. This means as marketer's we need to work smarter to ensure we meet their new and changing needs.

Is Email dead in a Web 2.0 world? A resounding no was answered, it just needs some careful thought and an integrated strategy.

Ready Steady Email is back this month

The DMA'a latest Ready Steady Email workshop rolls into London next week, at TFM on February 24th. The RSE workshops are held jointly by the DMA and the IAB, and supported by sponsors dotMailer. (Tink Taylor, our Client Services Director is joint organiser and a facilitator at the workshop).

These workshops are always a stimulating, educational and enjoyable experience for attendees. Lycos.co.uk to close on Feb 15th 2009

The email portal of lycos.co.uk closes on Feb 15th.

Email marketing clients who have recipients with Lycos email addresses will shortly lose contact with these users as no other ISP has stepped forward to take on the accounts. key domains affected include:

home.se
jubii.co.uk
jubii.de
jubii.fr
lycos.at
lycos.co.uk
lycos.de
lycos.es
lycos.it
lycos.nl
spray.se

Our advice to dotMailer clients is to use a segmentation query to find all the Lycos email addresses in your address books and send them an email asking them to update their contact details and new email address, using the unsubscribe/update contact details link. We will shortly be adding this pre-built query into all dotMailer Enterprise accounts.

Alternatively, we'd recommend you export and filter your data manually to identify the lycos.co.uk email addresses to be contacted.
